Steering Committee and Working Groups

Different groups of PPI specialists coalesce to form teams to work on specific projects of interest.  Apart from a small service center, there is no home office or large corporate structure to maintain.  PPI’s core personnel include the following individuals:

Dr. Tony Cunningham, an ethnobiologist with extensive experience in Africa and South East Asia, is the Program Director of PPI. Sarah Laird, an ecological anthropologist and specialist in non-timber forest products, Dr. Charles Peters, a forester/ecologist at the New York Botanical Garden, Dr. Miguel Alexiades, an ethnobotanist at the University of Kent, Dr. Silvia Purata, a plant ecologist based in Xalapa, Mexico, and Dr. Patricia Shanley, an ethnobiologist at CIFOR form PPI’s active steering committee.

For a given project, a specific working group of local and international experts is formed. Details on the current working groups will soon be presented here.
